Some updates after my guarduation

Well... this kind of works like a report? Although, I think nobody would really spend time reading this.

Honestly, I haven’t touched Unreal or done anything related to game design lately. I normally wake up around 10, go to the gym for about 30 minutes, eat some fruit and have a latte for breakfast, then sit in front of my PC to play games — either using NOX for mobile games or playing titles like Star Rail (which I started in July because of the collab with Fate/UBW) and Genshin. I also spend time watching VTubers, anime, and reading manga.

Other than the games above, I’ve also been playing some Steam games that I bought a while ago but not yet played: Fate/Samurai Remnant (played in July), Legend of Mortal (Chinese name: 活俠傳 | played in late July and August), and Final Fantasy VII Remake (currently playing since late August).

While enjoying life, I’ve also joined some free baking and cooking classes at a nearby community centre once a week. After living in the UK for a few years, I’ve realised that if we (our family) want to live more affordably when it comes to food, it’s better to learn how locals cook and prepare dishes. Although it’s quite true that compared to Hong Kong, this place feels like a desert when it comes to food — hardly any choice, very inconvenient, and most meals are nearly double the price (for example, a McDonald’s meal is around £4–5 in Hong Kong, as I remember). I suppose it’s because of VAT (which doesn’t exist in Hong Kong) and higher wages. On the positive side, most ingredients or raw food are about the same price or even cheaper. If I follow recipes and cook myself, it’s a healthier and more cost-effective way to manage my diet — and it saves money from eating out. (Though, of course, it takes time to prepare, cook, and wash up, but it’s still worth it.)

Originally, we had planned (and even booked flights and hotels) for a two- to three-week holiday back to Hong Kong, and possibly Tokyo, in January 2026. Really unfortunately… my dad was diagnosed with rectal cancer just last month. At the moment, I need to spend more time with him and help gather information so we can make a decision about surgery or radiotherapy. He had cancer ten years ago — Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) — which doctors usually say is one of the hardest cancers to treat. He’s quite stressed now, and I also feel he really needs my help, especially since this is our first time dealing with something like this in the UK.

Although there is an interpreter in the hospital, he’s found that sometimes the interpreter can’t fully express what he means, which makes both him and the doctor or nurse confused. Especially when there’s a phone call from the hospital, he always asks me to stay with him and listen. Fingers crossed — I hope things will get better in the coming months, both for the operation and whatever follows.
